Hit and Run Tournament

Soft-Boiled win Hit and Run 5

The 5th instalment of Maidenhead Softball Club’s Hit and Run development competition, which was played on Sunday 10th September, was won by London based, Soft-Boiled. This was a step for Soft-Boiled who, in 2016, reached the Cup final only to be beaten by BA Flyers. This year’s Plate competition was won by one of the debutants, Eastbourne Bombers, who beat other debutants the Publishing Softball League All-Stars.

No Balls win C.W S 2

No Balls have won the 2017 CWS Cup. They defeated Lady Heath in a repeat of the 2016 final, but with a reversal of the outcome. In the Plate competition, Thames Valley beath RG. Both teams were playing in their first all-female event.

On a glorious Sunday in Maidenhead, 8 female teams took to the diamond in a bid to win the CWS Cup, 3 of these teams were new to the all-female format. After a group stage, No Balls, Sticky Chavs, Lady Heath and Portsmouth Dodgers all progressed to the Cup. Thames Valley, RG, Bracknell Scorchers and our very own Diamond Squeezers fought it out for the Plate.

It was a fantastic day of female softball, with both finals worthy of the day and the conditions. C.W.S 3 will be back next year.
